Pin #84: In-n-Out Rose Parade 2002

Once again In-n-Out was a Rose Parade sponsor and had a float featured in the Parade.  The theme of their float was Good Times.  I like this pin because the Double Double is wearing headphones.  It's funny.  And I seriously want In-n-Out now.

Pin #83: San Xavier Mission

The San Xavier del Bac is on the south side of Tucson.  I've never actually been there so I'm not sure where I got this pin.  I have a feeling it was on sale somewhere else in town and I just bought it, but I can't remember.  This pin features the front of the mission, which is well known sight in Tucson.  It's a cool pin to have.

Pin #82: In-n-Out Rose Parade 1997

This is a pin from the 1997 Rose Parade.  In-n-Out had a float in the parade that year, so they got a pin also.  This was a gift from a family friend who was on the Rose Bowl committee.  He knew I collected pins and that In-n-Out is one of my favorite restaurants.  I really like this pin.  And it makes me want to go get a Double Double.

Pin #81: Disneyland 50th Birthday Mickey Ears

This pin was released in 2005 to celebrate Disneyland's 50th birthday.  It features the iconic Mickey Ears in gold with the Disneyland banner under a giant 50.  I liked the simplicity of it and the image of the Ears.  I ended up buying a lot of pins celebrating the 50th birthday, so you will see a lot more show up in this blog.

Pin #80: Yosemite - El Capitan

Another pin from Yosemite, this one featuring El Capitan.  For those who have read my earlier posts, you know that I have never been to Yosemite, so this was a gift.  I don't remember from who, though.  This is a nice pin, but not as cool as the other Yosemite pin.  That one had a bear on it.

Pin #79: I Seriously Don't Know Where This Pin is From

This pin is the biggest mystery on my board.  I honestly have no idea where it's from.  It's a logo for something, but I just don't know what.  I'm fairly certain I bought it when I was on vacation somewhere and that it was from a museum.  But seeing as there are no other distinguishing aspects, I can't figure out where it might have come from.  So if you recognize the logo, please let me know!

Pin #78: Seven Dwarfs

This is another pin I got by pre-ordering a Disney movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.  Darn you Disney for knowing how to get me to buy more DVDs.  The pin features the seven dwarfs all together.  It's a cool pin.  Dopey is my favorite.

Pin #77: New York Heroes

This is a post 9/11 pin honoring the NYPD and NYFD.  It's a cool pin, and I don't think I have to justify why.  I don't exactly remember where I got it, but I'm glad I have it.

Pin #76: Luxor Las Vegas

This pin is from the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.  It's a cool 3D style pin of the pyramid that is the landmark of the casino.  While I have never stayed at the Luxor, and don't really like gambling there, I really liked this pin when I saw it, so I bought it.

Pin #75: Beauty and the Beast 10th Anniversary

This pin was released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast.  I got it by pre-ordering the Platinum Edition DVD of the movie.  I also got four lithographs.  This is one of the bigger pins on my board, standing about two inches tall.  It's a very cool pin featuring the stars in their most regal attire with the roses up top and the 10th Anniversary banner.  It was totally worth pre-ordering the movie to get it.

Pin #74: Pennsylvania II

Another Pennsylvania pin, this one with the image of George Washington crossing the Delaware River.  It's a pretty famous image associated with the state.  Again, I don't really remember if I bought this one or if it was a gift, but I do remember why I put it next to the other Pennsylvania pin on my board.  As I started collecting different state pins, I thought it would be cool to put them all near each other on my board in as close to their actual map position as possible.  But as my overall collection grew, and my state pin collection stayed the same, some pins got moved around and other pins fit in around the state ones.  So there's nothing resembling a state pin map anymore, but the Pennsylvania duo stayed together.

Pin #73: Pennsylvania

This is a Pennsylvania state pin.  I have a few state pins, mostly from states I have actually been to.  Pennsylvania is one state that I've been to a lot because I have family out there.  This particular pin shows the Liberty Bell, which I've seen, and what appears to be an Amish buggy traveling through a covered bridge, another staple of Pennsylvania.  I don't remember if I bought this pin or if it was a gift.  Either way, I like it.

Pin #72: First Communion Pin

This is a pin that was given to me at my First Communion.  I've kept it after all these years.  I guess you could say it was a major event in my life.  I don't really consider myself an overly religious person, but many of my values came from my upbringing, which included religious education.  So I still have fond memories of all of that, which is why I still keep my communion pin on my board.

Pin #71: Fenway Park

This is another pin from my 2008 east coast ballpark tour, this one from Fenway Park in Boston.  It's a cool looking pin with the Red Sox logo up top and the ballpark imprinted in gold in the center of the diamond.  The diamond shape of the pin is symbolic too, since baseball is played on a diamond.  Of course that could just be coincidental.  I have to say that going to Fenway Park was one of the coolest sports experiences of my life.  Considering the age of the ballpark, it looks remarkable.  And the atmosphere at a game is one of the best I've ever experienced.  If you've never seen a game at Fenway, I highly encourage you to do so.

Pin #70: Atlanta

This pin is from Atlanta.  Duh.  It has the Atlanta skyline up top with a peach, because Georgia is known for peaches, underneath the city name.  It's a nice looking pin.  My mom got it for me when she went to a conference in Atlanta.  I've never been outside of the Atlanta airport, yet between this and all my Atlanta Olympic pins I seem to have a lot of pins from that city.  And after typing Atlanta so many times, it is really starting to look like a funny word.

Pin #69: Yankee Stadium

When I found out that Yankee Stadium would be closing following the 2008 season, I started making plans to get out there and see a game.  I ended up turning that trip into a full fledged east coast ballpark tour.  And seeing a game at Yankee Stadium was totally worth it.  As someone who loves baseball as much as I do, the history and majesty of it all was really cool.  Plus, the game I saw was really good.  Johnny Damon went 6 for 6 including the game winning hit, and I got to see Mariano Rivera pitch.  And I managed to sneak in a trip to the gift store between innings where I found this cool pin.

Pin #68: Star Tours - Rex

Another Star Tours pin, this one released in the late 90s and featuring the pilot, Rex.  I used to have his whole script memorized and would quote it word for word whenever I rode the ride.  I got a lot of funny looks when I did that.  And, in case you didn't know, Rex was voiced by Pee Wee Herman himself, Paul Reubens.  I just had to buy this pin when I saw it because I'm such a huge fan.

Pin #67: The Sword in the Stone

Another pin from the Magical Musical Moments series released in 2002.  This one features Arthur and Merlin from The Sword in the Stone and celebrates the song Higitus Figitus.  It's kind of cool.  I think The Sword in the Stone is an oft-forgotten Disney movie, but it really is good.  I'm pretty sure this pin was a gift from someone because I certainly don't remember buying it.  Writing this post makes me want to watch the movie, though.

Pin #66: Star Tours

This is a classic Star Tours pin that I got after the ride opened in 1987.  I remember going to Disneyland not long after the ride opened and riding it for the first time.  I am a huge Star Wars fan, and especially loved everything Star Wars as a kid, so when my family went to Disneyland that day, it was because Star Tours had opened.  The other stuff helped, too, but it was mainly Star Tours.  I don't specifically remember buying this pin, but I know it was released that year.

Pin #65: Clonetrooper

This is a Clonetrooper pin from the Star Wars prequels.  I think it might have come with one of the movies or a poster I bought.  I'm not exactly sure.  I don't recall buying it on its own, but, again, I'm not really sure.  I just know that it's cool looking.  Although, I'm a little biased because I'm a huge Star Wars fan.

This pin is from Victoria, Canada, obviously.  It was a gift considering I've never been to Canada.  It's a very simple pin with the Canadian flag sitting above the city name.  While it doesn't stand out, I like the simplicity.

Pin #63: Yosemite

This is a Yosemite National Park pin from 2002.  It was a gift, I think from my parents when they visited Yosemite.  I've never been, so I know I didn't buy it.  It's a cool looking pin, and the bear moves across the face.  One day I'll have to actually make it to Yosemite and buy a pin myself.

Pin #62: LA Dodgers World Championships

This was a Dodgers giveaway pin from the mid-80s.  It celebrates the World Series Championships the Dodgers have won since moving to LA.  I don't know the exact year this pin was handed out, but I know it was before 1988 because that championship isn't listed on here.  I have quite a few Dodgers giveaway pins, so you'll see plenty more during the course of this blog.

Pin #61: Hawaiian Islands

I bought this pin during my only trip to Hawaii in 1998.  There's nothing super special about this pin, but it's a reminder of my trip.  I bought it because I was on the Hawaiian Islands and this seemed like an appropriate pin.

Pin #60: Bambi and Flower

This is yet another pin from my Walt Disney Classics Collection series that has been featured two other times in this blog.  This particular pin is of Bambi and Flower.  It's a cute pin.  I believe this is the only representation of Bambi on my board, so it's noteworthy in that aspect also.

Pin #59: Nicholas Nickelby House

I have no idea where I got this pin or who gave it to me.  In fact, I wasn't even really sure what it was.  On the back, though, it says Nicholas Nickelby, and states that it is the first in a series.  I'm not sure what series, and I don't think I have any others from the series, but I have this one.

Pin #58: Izzy

This is Izzy, the mascot for the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.  Most people don't remember mascots from the Olympics, probably because they are mostly forgettable.  But I have a few forever immortalized on my pin boards.  Including, Izzy.  He really was a stupid mascot.

Pin #57: 1996 Olympics Motorola Cell Phone

This is another pin from my 1996 Olympics collection.  I told you I had a lot of them.  This particular one showcases Motorola's sponsorship and is, what I've always thought, a cell phone.  After all, that's what cell phones looked like in 1996.  Although, looking at it now, it looks more like a walkie talkie.  I always thought it was a cool pin, but it has definitely lost some of its luster over the years.  I do like the torch logo in the middle, though.

Pin #56: Bugs Bunny Stamp

This is kind of a cool looking pin.  It's an image of a Bugs Bunny commemorative stamp.  Clearly it is from many years ago, as the price of stamps has risen dramatically from 32 cents.  I believe my aunt gave me this pin along with a few others that have already been featured.

Pin #55: Wonderful World of Disney

Another pin from the Magical Musical Moments series released by the Disney Store in 2002.  This is actually the first pin the series.  It's a 1960s style TV showing the opening from the Wonderful World of Disney with Tinkerbell.  I absolutely loved the look of this pin when I first saw it which is why I had to buy it.  I'm a sucker for anything retro, so the old TV sold this for me.
